Greyhound Pets Policy

Greyhound does not allow pets onboard its buses. The only exception is for service animals that assist passengers with disabilities.

Service Animals

Passengers with disabilities are permitted to bring a service animal onboard the bus at no additional cost. Service animals must meet legal requirements and be trained to perform specific tasks for individuals with disabilities.

Definition of a Service Animal

A service animal is defined as a dog or other animal that is individually trained to perform tasks that assist a person with a disability. Examples of service animal tasks include:

• Guiding individuals with vision impairments.
• Alerting individuals with hearing impairments to sounds.
• Assisting individuals during seizures.
• Pulling a wheelchair or assisting with mobility.
• Providing support for individuals with psychiatric or neurological disabilities, such as PTSD.
• Fetching items or interrupting harmful behaviors in individuals with autism.

Service Animal Rules

• Service animals must remain under control at all times, either on a leash, harness, or in a carrier.
• The animal must stay within the passenger’s personal space, meaning around the feet area.
• The service animal cannot occupy a seat or block the aisle.
• If the service animal poses a health or safety risk to passengers or staff, Greyhound personnel may deny boarding or request removal of the animal.

Emotional Support Animals

Emotional support animals (ESAs) are not allowed onboard Greyhound buses. Only legally recognized service animals are permitted.

Additional Guidelines

• Passengers traveling with a service animal do not need to provide documentation but should be prepared to confirm that the animal is a trained service animal.
• If a service animal is disruptive or aggressive, Greyhound reserves the right to refuse travel.
• Passengers are responsible for cleaning up after their service animal and ensuring it does not cause damage or disturbances.
