Greyhound Baggage Policy

Carry-On Baggage
Passengers are allowed to bring one (1) piece of carry-on baggage free of charge.
- Maximum Size: 16 x 12 x 7 inches (42 x 30 x 18 cm).
- Maximum Weight: 25 lb (7 kg).
- Storage Location: Overhead compartments or under the seat in front.
- Responsibility: Passengers are responsible for their carry-on baggage during the trip. The company is not liable for any lost or damaged carry-on baggage.
Important Notes for Carry-On Baggage
- Slight deviations in size may be permitted as long as the total dimensions do not exceed 35 inches (90 cm) (length + width + height).
- If the carry-on bag exceeds the allowed size or weight, it must be stored under the bus and will count as the one free checked bag.
- On international routes, passengers can only carry goods exempt from customs duties based on their nature and quantity.
Checked Baggage (Under-Bus Storage)
Passengers are allowed to store one (1) piece of baggage under the bus free of charge.
- Maximum Size: 31 x 20 x 12 inches (80 x 50 x 30 cm).
- Maximum Weight: 50 lb (20 kg) (55 lb or 25 kg for Mexico routes).
- Responsibility: Passengers must label their baggage with their name, address, and phone number.
Important Notes for Checked Baggage
- Slight size deviations are allowed if the total dimensions do not exceed 63 inches (160 cm) when added together (length + width + height).
- Baggage must be picked up promptly upon arrival.
- Passengers are responsible for transferring baggage between buses during transfers.
- The company does not assume responsibility for checked baggage unless it is damaged due to an accident or collision.
Excess Baggage
Passengers can bring additional baggage, subject to space availability and fees.
- Maximum Allowed: Based on available space under the bus.
- Fees Apply: Additional charges per extra item.
- Booking Requirement: Must be booked in advance via Manage My Booking.
The company does not guarantee acceptance of excess baggage and advises booking in advance.
Bulky & Oversized Baggage
Bulky baggage must be reserved in advance and is subject to an additional Bulky Baggage Fee.
- Maximum Size: Cannot exceed 95 inches (240 cm) when adding total dimensions (length + width + height).
- Maximum Weight: 75 lb (34 kg).
- Booking Requirement: Must be booked and paid for in advance via Manage My Booking.
Prohibited Items:
- Furniture, surfboards, electric appliances, cardboard boxes.
- E-scooters (excluding mobility scooters).
Oversized Baggage
Not Accepted: If the item weighs more than 75 lb (34 kg) or exceeds 95 inches (240 cm), it will not be transported.
Special Items
Bicycles
- Allowed on some routes for a fee.
- Maximum Size: 69 x 24 x 42 inches.
- Maximum Weight: 45 lb (20 kg).
- Booking Requirement: Must be reserved in advance.
- Storage: Bicycles may be stored on rear-mounted racks or under the bus in a container.
Strollers
- Allowed as Bulky Baggage at no charge.
- Must be collapsible (non-collapsible strollers are not accepted).
Prohibited Items
Passengers cannot bring the following items onboard:
- Weapons, explosives, and hazardous materials.
- Large furniture, home appliances, or vehicle parts.
- Live animals (except for service animals).

Lost or Forgotten Baggage
Passengers are responsible for their baggage. If an item is lost:
- Submit a Lost & Found request via Greyhound Lost & Found.
- If located, passengers must arrange for pickup or pay for shipping.
- The company is not liable for lost baggage left behind.
Baggage Liability
Standard Compensation: If baggage is lost or damaged due to a bus collision or accident, liability is limited to:
- $250 per adult ticket.
- $125 per child ticket.
- Wheelchairs & Mobility Aids: Compensation is based on replacement value or repair costs. A temporary replacement may be provided while a claim is processed.
