Go Buses Pet Policy

Go Buses has a strict no-pet policy, with the exception of ADA-compliant service animals. Below is a complete guide to the pet policy, including guidelines for service animals and important restrictions for all travellers.

General Pet Restrictions

Pets are NOT allowed on Go Buses.

  • No exceptions are made for small pets, even if they are kept in a carrier.
  • Emotional support animals (ESAs) are not permitted on board.
  • Passengers attempting to board with a pet may be denied travel without a refund.

Service Animals

Go Buses complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and allows certified service animals to accompany passengers with disabilities.

  • Definition of a Service Animal: A service animal is a dog or miniature horse that has been individually trained to perform a task for a person with a disability.
  • Proper Behaviour: The service animal must remain under control at all times and cannot block aisles or seats.
  • Health and Hygiene: The animal must be clean, well-behaved, and housebroken.
  • No Additional Fees: There is no charge for bringing a service animal on board.

Animals That Do Not Qualify as Service Animals

The following are NOT considered service animals under ADA regulations and are not permitted on Go Buses:

  • Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)
  • Therapy Animals
  • Comfort Animals
  • Pets providing companionship

Passenger Responsibilities

  • The passenger is responsible for the care and supervision of their service animal.
  • The animal must remain on a leash, harness, or tether unless the passenger’s disability prevents using such devices.
  • Go Buses staff may ask:
    • Whether the animal is required due to a disability.
    • What specific tasks the animal has been trained to perform.
    • Staff cannot ask for documentation or require proof of certification.

Busbuster Tips

  • Plan ahead and notify Go Buses customer service if you require special accommodations.
  • Make sure your service animal is well-behaved and does not disrupt other passengers.
  • Pack necessary items for your animal, including a leash, water, and waste bags.
