Train station I found was fine. Friendly staff and easy to negotiate. There is a cafe outside that has rude owners who over charge tourists. I suggest walking a few hundred meters into the town. Nice cafes and cheaper storage. Two I can recommend are Cafe Marconi and Erminio Cafe Bar. Personally I think Syracuse is a bit drab and the ruins - at 13 euros - over priced.

Had a one hour station stop here walked around town on a lovely Monday morning and found a few treasures.

Missed the train. Why? Typical Italian signage. There are two platforms 1 and 2. The ones in front of the station and the ones off to the side of the station called 1 pest and 2 pest or some such. Clear as mud.

Fabulous place, literally in every Corner there is a piece of ancient History! I can strongly recommend the old Isola Ortyga with the Apollo temple the cathedral and Diana fontains. And of course the absolutely fabulous teatro antico located about 10 minutes by walk from the Center. Amazing place! Strongly recommended!

Syracuse's main train station has a coffee bar and tabachist inside. There is a line that runs north from Syracuse to Messina, making stops along the way. Check trenitalia.com or their app for routes, schedules, and to buy tickets. There is a ticket counter and ticket machine inside also.
