The station itself is fine...as a pedestrian. Unfortunately, it was an absolute disaster with the bike. The elevators are so small that you can't get in with a normal bike - not possible with two panniers. So I was allowed to carry a fully loaded bike down the stairs twice and then carry it up twice on the way back... 😖 So if someone is traveling by bike, I can only advise against this or accept the stairs.

Desolate gastro offer. We wanted to shorten the waiting time with a freshly tapped beer. First to McDonald's - soft drinks only. Then to the Asian restaurant. Only soft drinks. Then to the kebab shop - only soft drinks - so boring! We give one star for the well-stocked Rewe To Go, where we got an excellent, well-chilled white wine for a fair EUR 2.29. Thank you Rewe, that at least you here at the dreary Oberhausen train station are supplying the thirsty travelers!

The train station is relatively drab. Shopping and dining options are available. But you will find more and more of the typical train station clientele there.

Who can best just drive on or past it? The train station is full of junkies who are really pushy. You really don't have to have it.
