Barons Bus Baggage Policy

Barons Bus provides clear baggage policies to ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience. Below are the details on carry-on, checked, oversized baggage, prohibited items, and liability.

Carry-On Baggage

  • Free of charge: Each passenger is allowed one (1) carry-on item at no additional cost.
  • Size Limit: Maximum dimensions: 16 x 12 x 7 inches (42 x 30 x 18 cm).
  • Weight Limit: Maximum 25 lb (7 kg).
  • Slight Size Deviations: Allowed if the total sum of dimensions (L + W + H) does not exceed 35 inches (90 cm).
  • Storage Location: Carry-on baggage must fit in the overhead compartments or under the seat in front of the passenger.
  • Responsibility: Passengers are responsible for monitoring their carry-on baggage during the trip. Barons Bus is not liable for any missing or damaged carry-on baggage.

Important: If your carry-on baggage exceeds the size or weight limit, it must be stored under the bus and will be counted as your one free checked bag (see "Storing Baggage Under the Bus").

Storing Baggage (Under the Bus)

  • One (1) piece of baggage per passenger is allowed to be stored under the bus free of charge.
  • Size Limit: Maximum dimensions: 31 x 20 x 12 inches (80 x 50 x 30 cm).
  • Weight Limit: Maximum 50 lb (20 kg) (55 lb or 25 kg in Mexico).
  • Slight Size Deviations: Allowed if the total sum of dimensions (L + W + H) does not exceed 63 inches (160 cm).
  • Allowed Items for Storage:
    • Suitcases
    • Backpacks
    • Duffel Bags
    • Trunks
    • Toolboxes
  • Allowed, but not recommended:
    • Plastic Bags
    • Paper Bags
    • Items protruding from your baggage

Excess Baggage

  • If additional storage space is available, extra baggage may be permitted for a fee.
  • There is no guarantee that excess baggage will be allowed.
  • Excess baggage (if available for the trip) must be booked during the ticket purchasing process.

Passengers are responsible for loading and transferring their own baggage, except in cases of disabled passengers, who can request assistance.

Strollers

  • Allowed as Bulky Baggage (one stroller per child).
  • Must be collapsible.
  • Non-collapsible strollers are NOT allowed.
  • Fee: Strollers are free of charge if they meet the collapsibility requirement.

Bulky Baggage

Bulky Baggage

  • Baggage exceeding the standard size/weight limits is classified as Bulky Baggage.
  • One (1) bulky item per passenger is allowed but must be reserved in advance.
  • Bulky Baggage Fees: Additional charges apply.
  • How to Book: Bulky baggage must be added during the ticket booking process.
  • Items NOT Allowed:
    • Fixtures, furniture, or furniture parts
    • Electronic appliances
    • Surfboards
    • Cardboard cartons

Special Considerations

  • Wheelchairs, Mobility Scooters, and bicycles are NOT considered bulky baggage and are subject to special conditions.
  • E-Scooters are NOT allowed under any circumstances.

Oversized Baggage

  • Baggage exceeding75 lb (34 kg) or with total dimensions exceeding 95 inches (240 cm) is classified as Oversized Baggage and is NOT accepted.

Permitted and Prohibited Items

Valuable Items

  • Passengers are responsible for valuable or fragile items.
  • Valuable items must be stored in carry-on baggage and not under the bus.
  • Examples of valuable items:
    • Cash, jewelry, or precious metals
    • Glasses (reading/sunglasses)
    • Electronics (laptops, tablets, phones, MP3 players, cameras)
    • Contact lenses or prostheses
    • Medication
    • Important documents (passports, licenses, certificates, securities)

Barons Bus is NOT responsible for loss or damage of any valuable items.

Lost or Forgotten Baggage/Items

  • Passengers are fully responsible for their baggage.
  • Barons Bus has no liability for lost or forgotten items.
  • If an item is left on the bus:
    1. Report the lost baggage by filling out a Lost & Found Form.
    2. If found, passengers must:
      • Pick up the baggage from Barons Bus directly, OR
      • Request shipment, which requires a prepaid shipping label from the passenger.
    3. Passengers bear all costs related to retrieving lost baggage.

Baggage Liability

Barons Bus is NOT responsible for lost or damaged baggage, including:

  • Regular baggage
  • Strollers
  • Bicycles

Exceptions

  • Wheelchairs, mobility aids, or assistive devices that are damaged due to bus accidents may be eligible for limited liability coverage.
  • In such cases, the maximum liability is either:
    • Replacement cost, OR
    • Repair cost, whichever is lower.
  • Temporary replacements may be provided until the liability process is completed.

Passenger Responsibility:

  • Passengers must retrieve their baggage after the trip.
  • Barons Bus is not liable for any damage or loss due to failure to retrieve baggage.
