Since Megabus arrived in US land in 2006, started with a very aggressive approach to market, offering a low cost express bus service to travel intercity starting at US$ 1. Megabus is known as a greater bus operator and an affordable travel option, and has already served more than 40 million passengers along its service begun. Today it serves about 120 bus routes by cities in North America, throughout the eastern, southern, midwestern, and western areas, also crossing borders to Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.  

In recent years in United States, Megabus bus service started with daily routes from Chicago to Ann Arbor,  Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Louisville, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Pennsylvania, St. Louis, State College and Toledo. After that, in 2007, expanded bus service to Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Tempe - Arizona, partnership with Coach America. Some of California routes was discontinued in late 2008 by low passengers volume. When started bus service operations in New york City, it became its base, which now   has established the total of 14 hubs, counting with Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Texas Triangle (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio), Washington D.C., Montreal and Toronto.

Since recent years, Megabus started to change the way it make and distribute it bus routes, focusing in a service where buses makes a few stops when heading to its destination. On West coast, Megabus operates mostly connecting passengers from local urban buses, interstate and commuter rail stations.

MEGABUS FLEET SERVICES

It’s a notable bus service, without stations and waiting rooms, using pickup and delivery points inside cities (curbside stops on public streets or parking lots - college campuses or shopping centers in larger cities), operating a point to point bus route network barreling stopping before getting to its destination. Expect nothing less than a affordable and reliable bus services, with professional drivers and staff offering a high level of comfort and safety, a clean and well maintained fleet.  Megabus is the first company to use double-decker buses to carry passengers intercity in the United States. Equipped with free WiFi, power outlets and as well as a panoramic view comfortable reclining seats restroom, safety belts, wheelchair accessibility and more.

Be aware that in some cases, strict regarding operational reasons, the company may need to substitute a replacement single decker bus with which may not offer all default known amenities. Also rest stops are provided on longer trips.

BUYING TICKETS & RESERVATIONS

Bus tickets reservations cannot be made by paying in cash or by check. Reservations can be only made at least 45 days in advance of departure.

Online Purchase

You can buy your Megabus tickets in advance through its website, only with major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. All prices are shown in USD.

For confirmation, an email will be send to your e-mail box. If you provide a cell phone number on booking process, a SMS confirmation for $ 0.25 will then be send.

Over Phone

Call the number 1-877-GO2-MEGA (1-877-462-6342)  and use your credit card to conclude transaction. Only major credit cards accepted, including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. All prices are shown in USD.

This service is available only for U.S. customers, and will be charged at the same rate as made online but will be a extra charge of $5.00 reservation fee.

Over Phone with Disabilities

Customers with disabilities can make reservations by phone calling 1-877-GO2-MEGA (1-877-462-6342) to have one dedicated customer service representatives to assist.

DEALS & DISCOUNTS

All Megabus prices and fares start as low as US$ 1.00! But it is limited. Fares always vary by chosen day, travel time and advance from trip date booking. Also an high demand for seats can influence. For all reservations a US$ 1.50 fee will be charge.

Promotion Codes

From time to time, Megabus will open special promotions running it in local or national campaigns, giving out discounts for who has this promotional codes, which can give you a better deal on reserving your bus trip.

Children Free Tickets and Discounts

There isn’t discounts for children in Megabus, and requires to have a reservation for each one. Unaccompanied children under the age of 17 are not permitted to travel.

Student Discounts

No students discounts are available in Megabus.

Military Discounts

No military discounts are available in Megabus.

Senior Discounts

No senior discounts are available in Megabus.

TICKET REFUND AND EXCHANGES

No refunds or credits will be given in instances where customers miss the bus; however, reservations can be changed up until 24 hours prior to departure.

Once you completed online buying process and reservation, this cannot be canceled or refunded, but they can be traded in for another bus trip up to 24 hours before your original scheduled departure.

To reservation trade in, it must be completed online and more than 24 hours prior to bus departure of the actual reservation. Also a US$ 2.50 fee is charged for every trade. The previous bus ticket cost will be applied and credited to this new reservation. If the previous bus ticket price is lower than the new one, you will have to pay the price difference.

But remember, all exchanges are available according to schedule availability.

IMPORTANT TIPS
Boarding on Bus

All boarding procedure takes about 15 to 30 minutes before departure. Please be aware and arrive at stop point at least an hour before departure. Be prepared for the weather if your arrival or departure location is outdoors. Dress for weather conditions, maybe bringing an umbrella or for hot days using light clothing and refreshing beverages.

Make sure your luggage is less than 50 pounds and doesn’t exceed 62 inches. Have your reservation number handy and ready to present to bus driver.

Pets on Bus

Animals aren’t allowed on bus, with exception of trained service animals that assist disabled customers

Travelling to Canada

Have with you a valid U.S. passport, because a photo identification will be required to get inside Canada by bus.

Travelling to United States from Canada

All passengers will not be permitted to entry into the United States without proper Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant travel documents. Please check the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Website for more details on requirements for leaving or entering the U.S.

You left a bus load of people stranded in Dillon south Carolina for 5 hours with no information about when or if we would get to our destinations. I still have not received any compensation for this ordeal. Your company is quick to take my money but won't take care of your mistakes and appreciate the people that use your company. I am so mad and I am also sure that this note will go unanswered.

My bus arrived 3 hours late, making me miss a day's work, the outlets or WiFi didn't work..I had no way to contact anyone to come pic me up so I had to pay an additional $20 for a cab..my trio was HORRIBLE and truly considered not traveling through you again

Overall trip was great.Staff was great.Did not know I would have a two hour lay over at Travis St before going on to Katy on Friday. Sunday bus didn't arrive until 1:00 schedule said 12:35. It was an experience.

First I am 72 and have driven 2 million miles in lots of trucks. On Friday November 11 the your driver was late getting to Knoxville, TN like 20 minutes to start with. When we got to Salem, VA to change drivers that man first words to us was this. "Your life is in my care (hands) now"! He was in the frame of mind to forget to take the emergency brake off to add another 30 minutes to our delayed trip. Three times he stalled the engine and reboot the system which caused problems to my tablet. He even drain the air tanks just before taking the emergency brake off to be able to put it into gear. Then he stalled off with NO air ride on with the buzzer going off along with NO air on. It was like riding a wild horse. When he got us on the interstate after several others voice concern He pulled on to the shoulder kept moving at 40 mph He got on his cell phone while we were moving to call in twice once to have someone to send the signal to fix the problem then call them back to thank them. We were over 50 minutes late getting to Washington DC. Over 20 minutes late. That spill caused problems with your Wi-Fi going on and off causing more problems to my tablet. What I did not tell you is that I am a "AARP smart driver instructor for seniors" for over 13 years now. I like to suggest you need to have a mystery Rider to evaluate your drivers driving habits to improve your one-time arrivals. On Saturday morning while I was waiting for my return trip I saw 7 drivers to enter the station coming in the existing lane. After we left the station and before we got to our break stop someone spilled lots of drinks on top that came down the stairs into the bathroom, All down the side, I am a handicap man slipping to get out, told the driver whom did not care. When we got to Salem to exchange drivers I kept noticing that the driver kept being over cautious taking her foot off the gas and touching the brake. When she got to our break stop she did mopped up the bus and told me that the spill got Into the storage compartment also. Her breaking habits caused us to be delayed getting to Knoxville TN. Full of shit. Busbuster had a price of $25, transferred me to mega's website to pay. I'm paying $75. Nobody to call or email on busbuster website nor mega. I was and still am highly pissed
