Southampton Central

This was a great station to both arrive and depart at, with appropriately sized platforms for the trains! It is well lit late at night, navigation is easy from the signs and the waiting rooms are suitable. Departure boards are up-to-date and cleanliness had been enforced, although the ticket office was not open at Platform 4 during its designated hours.

Clean station, with indoor waiting rooms and plenty of shops to grab a bite or coffee, though they don't stay open late into the evening so just be aware. The platform names are a bit odd, but there are signs and notices to platforms and live times so it's not too difficult to find the platform you need. Staff are also around and visible if you need help. Great location, as the station isn't far from Southampton Centre, SeaCity museum or the University of Southampton.

Absolutely dreadful experience coming off the train and trying to get a taxi! Construction work is ongoing and we were led down a pedestrian way and expected to go up stairs to cross a bridge to access a taxi rank, with heavy cases. If somebody is disabled and has limited mobility it would be extremely difficult. Absolutey disgraceful lack of organisation.

Busy station (I experienced both very busy and not busy at all), so might be tough to get through crowds. Doesn't help that the platforms are split into 2, 2a, 2b, 3, 3a, 3b so you have to differentiate between them.

Just changing my train from this station. Quite big station but it giving me impression like an old dirty one which needs renovation. Btw service is good from this station to London. Couple of companies are serving from this station such as GWR, Southern, South Western &’Cross Country.
