I was returning with my young daughter from Paris to Versailles where we were staying. When leaving the station we had tickets checked by security officers, 3 seconds later we go through the gates, my ticket works, my daughter's not. I tell her to ask the officer for help, he looks at her ticket, says it's wrong, immediately demands 50 euro or he will call the police and it will be 100 euro. I say wait, I will look for the ticket because I know I bought it, we wouldn't be able to travel from Paris without it, NO, HE DOESN'T HAVE TIME, I pay now or he call Gendarmerie. My daughter is in tears, I am very upset searching through my backpack on the other side of the gates, the man yells at me PAY NOW OR I CALL THE POLICE. From being a tourist having a nice day in Paris I am now a criminal, I will never forget how I was welcomed at Gare de Versailles-Chantiers. Please check other reviews , and be aware of a middle aged man in dreadlocks, agent PM766. Also note tickets were handed first to security officers and accepted by them so it is possible they swap tickets in secret.

Beware of the station workers who single out young tourists and fine them for not having the correct stamp on their ticket. It's a racket. Shame.

Worst train station in France?
Walked in and was told there was a train to Paris and one of 3 attendants helped us purchase 4 tickets.
Once we purchased and went in it turns out there was no train to Paris due to work being done.
Requested refund and they refused saying we could walk to a bus stop and use a bus.
Refused refund despite giving us false information.
Took Uber back but don't trust this station.

I just had a bad experience with trains of SNCF
We wanted to go to Versailles but we knew that our tickets were only for 1-3 zones. We knew that we had to stop at Viroflay and then pay for another ticket.
On Montparnasse station we asked the staff which train we had to take and they told us to take N. When we were on the train we realised that the train wasn't stopping. At the arrival to Versailles station, we asked the staff and the only answer we had was "You have to pay 35€ or I will call the police". I asked him if I could go back to Paris and he refused and told me that I would have to pay the fee anyway. The control officer was really rude, not even understanding our situation or he didn't want to understand. We were willing to pay the ticket, 3,65€, but he only wanted us to pay the fee. He kept saying or you pay the fee or I will call the police. Another officer assist us, very nicely, but he told us that the other officer was his boss and he couldn't argue with him. The nice one knew that the only gesture of oppening one door will cost us 35€ (and we were willing to pay the actual cost of the ride) but because the other one was making pressure, he couldn't do anything.
Therefore, I will write a complain about the treatment received.
If you can help me in anyway I will appreciate
Very dissapointed with the service! We are from Spain and we were just visiting paris for a few days, obviously we don't speak perfect french, we made a mistake, we weren't trying to do it on propose, and we had to pay 35€ anyway, just to have one door open... When we could have pay for the actual tickets... I think is pretty unfair, and the treatment we received as well.
