Good train station with places to get coffee, quick meals, and snacks. Trains run efficiently. Close to many of the hotels in the area and easily in walking distance.

One of the great train stations of the United Kingdom, Waverley evokes a bygone age of travel and wonder. For a Victorian scholar like myself, the architecture of the station conveys the attitudes and ethos of a certain age. The frame of steel and glass would have struck a visitor back then as being impact of early modern. A visitor nowadays would be more likely to gawk at the floral forms in the main ticket hall, and the elegance and ornamentation of the design. Designs like this demonstrates that a balance can be struck between displaying modern ingenuity and innovation, and evoking wonder and exuberance and beauty. They have modernised the station, and they have done it well, so as to provide the expected amenities of contemporary life while preserving the lusciously adorned intellectual foundation of the station.

Waverley Station is the main train station in Edinburgh. It's quite a lovely place. Well built, lots of character. Plenty of Exits that will lead you to the Row, and other parts of Edinburgh that the station intersects. Lots of escalators and elevators too, so moving with huge luggage is not an issue. Some places to grab a bit if your train doesn't provide food onboard. Always a M&S around. There's a supermarket here too. Accessibility is not an issue inside the station, but once you exit is another story.

The station keeps its historic characteristics, but the restroom facilities are in desperate need of expanding.
I get that this is the period when the Edinburgh Fringe is on, but it's really not a good look around midday on Sunday that the male restroom was nearly filled and female restrooms had about 30 people queuing outside.

Very nice station with frequent services to many destinations across Scotland. Loved my experience traveling through there!
