Megabus Baggage Policy

Carry-On Baggage
One (1) piece per passenger.
- Must fit in overhead storage or under the seat.
- Suggest a bag no larger than a briefcase for onboard carry-on.
- Wheeled, rectangular bags typically used for airline carry-on are too large and not permitted onboard.
- Bags typically used for airline not permitted.
Checked Baggage
One (1) piece per passenger.
- Maximum size (length + width + height): Must not exceed 62 inches (158cm).
- Maximum weight: 50 pounds (23kg) per luggage.
Additional Luggage
- Passengers can purchase an extra ticket for additional luggage, subject to size and weight restrictions.
- In major cities (New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Boston, Atlanta, Orlando, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Texas cities), extra luggage without an additional reservation will incur a full walk-up fare charge.
Special Items
- Medical devices: Required for travel are allowed in addition to luggage limitations.
- Children strollers: Allowed in addition to luggage limitations (must be folded and stowed in the luggage compartment).
Luggage Security
- Luggage should be locked and labelled with name, address, and contact number.
- TSA-approved locks recommended, especially for international travel.
Prohibited Items
- No items over 50 pounds.
- No hazardous materials, weapons, or inherently dangerous items.
- Bicycles, skis, snowboards, golf clubs, and musical instruments are not permitted unless in a case meeting size and weight restrictions.
Responsibility
- Megabus Operating Carriers do not check luggage or provide receipts for luggage.
- Passengers are responsible for their luggage and any items brought onboard.
Cross-Border Travel
- Luggage is subject to inspection when crossing international borders.
- Passengers must claim and declare items at border crossings. Megabus is not responsible for luggage during border crossings.
